Carmen Posadas (Spain)

Carmen Posadas is an award-winning Uruguayan-Spanish writer whose work spans children’s literature, novels, essays and screenwriting. The daughter of a diplomat, she spent her childhood in Uruguay before moving to Madrid and later living in Moscow, Buenos Aires and London. She began her literary career in 1980 and has since published more than 15 children’s books, 12 novels, biographies and numerous film and television scripts. Her novel Pequeñas infamias won Spain’s Premio Planeta in 1998. Her works have been translated into more than 30 languages.

Bernard L. Mohr (Norway)

Bernhard L. Mohr works as an acquiring editor of international fiction at Cappelen Damm, the largest publishing house in Norway. He publishes a wide range of literary authors in translation, among them Nobel prize laureates László Krasznahorkai and Kazuo Ishiguro, Andrey Kurkov and Elisa Shua Dusapin. A Slavist by education, Mohr has written several critically acclaimed non-fiction books about Russia and its relationship with the West. In 2024, he initiated a support programme for nonfiction and fiction authors in Ukraine, a collaboration between the Norwegian writers’ organisations, the Norwegian Helsinki Committee and PEN Ukraine.

Kostas Spatharakis (Greece)

Kostas Spatharakis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1980. He studied Law in Athens and Comparative Literature in Thessaloniki. He worked for many years as a freelance translator, copy-editor and proofreader, and in 2014 he founded an independent publishing house, based in Athens (Antipodes). Sinéad Mac Aodha (Ireland)

Sinéad Mac Aodha is the director of Literature Ireland, a government funded organisation that promotes Irish literature abroad. She served as the Irish expert on the European Union OMC Working Group on Translation and Multilingualism. She recently co-edited an anthology of Irish short stories in Spanish, Cuentos irlandeses contemporáneos. Current projects include curating an exhibition of Irish authors’ photographs at the European Parliament in Brussels and organising a conference celebrating Ireland’s many European literary translators in Dublin. She was managing director of the Centre Culturel Irlandais Paris from 2016–2017. Mac Aodha currently sits on a number of literature and translation prize juries.

Ákos Brunner (Hungary)

Ákos Brunner studied philosophy at the University of Pécs, Hungary, and completed his doctoral studies at Central European University (CEU), Budapest, specialising in ancient Greek and Roman thought. From 2011 onward, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at CEU and Eötvös Loránd University. Since 2019, he has worked in publishing. In 2022, he joined Typotex Publishing House, an independent Hungarian publisher known for its science and popular science catalogue and its contemporary European fiction series, which includes works by several winners and nominees of the EUPL. Alongside his editorial work, Brunner also coordinates Typotex’s ongoing Creative Europe literary translation project under the ‘Circulation of European literary works’
scheme.
