Summary

Life has stalled for the main character in Frans Wachtmeister’s latest novel. His Japanese girlfriend has left him and when he eventually loses his job as a headhunter, he’s prepared to face the final curtain. Along with a failing sculptor of Buddha’s, he leads a life in the shadowy outskirts of Tokyo and alternates between accepting and fighting his fate. His Japan shrinks, turns hostile and eventually drives him to make a final, desperate attempt to regain his lost favor. With a cynical view of both Asia and his home continent of Europe, Frans Wachtmeister writes about identity, regret and guilt from a European point of view, whilst presenting a theory on the geography of love in the age of globalisation.
