European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL) - Project Assistant - Job vacancy

Location: Brussels

Type of contract: short term (CDD - 1 year, renewable) - to start ideally in early January

Passionate about culture, especially literature? Very good organisational skills with a strong appetence for digital communication and event management, able to work independently? Proficient in the English language? If yes, you’re at the right place – the EU Prize for Literature (EUPL) is searching for a Project Assistant to work on the EUPL 2025 edition!

The EUPL is an annual initiative that awards emerging fiction writers in Europe, with the aim to promote the circulation of literature across borders, and to encourage greater interest in non-national literary works.

The Project Assistant will take part in all the activities of the EUPL and will be an essential support for the Consortium that runs the project. Some of the key tasks include:

  • Overall support to the management and implementation of the project, including:
    • Organisation of the annual Award Ceremony
    • Overseeing and coordinating the production of the annual anthology of the Prize
    • Coordinating with the Consortium’s partners for the organisation of events involving the EUPL authors in book fairs and other venues
    • Writing in coordination with the Consortium’s partners the final implementation report to the European Commission
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders/third parties and coordinating their involvement
  • Support event management
  • Support to the Prize communication strategy, dissemination and visibility, especially through social media and trade press
  • Administrative support 

Your profile

  • Strong experience in events organisation and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and within an international/multicultural environment
  • Proactive, hands-on personality
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong command of social media
  • Computer literate (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), experience with working with Canva and Drupal is an asset, as well as some knowledge of video/audio editing 
  • Experience working within the EU institutions, or relevant consultancies, trade associations or NGOs is an asset
  • Excellent command of written and oral English is a must, other languages are an asset, in particular French
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A real interest in culture/literature
